Jeremiah Conway
Jeremiah Conaway retired as a Professor of Philosophy in 2019 after teaching
for 41 years at the University of Southern Maine. He holds a Ph.D. from Yale
University and a B.A. from Fordham University. His previous book, The Alchemy
of Teaching: The Transformation of Lives (Sentient Publications, 2013),
explores the impact of education on both teachers and students.
For the past twelve years, he has been a practicing Buddhist and currently
serves on the Board of Directors at the Tibetan Buddhist Center in Portland,
Maine. His background in philosophy and his Buddhist practice form the
foundation of his work.
Beyond academia and writing, he enjoys Irish set-dancing, playing his old
accordion, and exploring the backroads of Maine and Portugal, his wife’s
native country.
